STACK Workshop at Zaha Hadid Architects

Nine months in, the STACK project workshop marks key milestone.

STACK Workshop at Zaha Hadid Architects

In June, the STACK partners came together for a three-day workshop hosted by Zaha Hadid Architects in London, UK. The event marked an important step forward in the development of the project’s ideas and novel research directions.

“It was a great opportunity to meet in person and dive deep into the different research areas, as well as collaborate with key stakeholders outside of the STACK project,” said Konstantinos Gavriil, Principal Investigator of the STACK project.

Throughout the workshop, the STACK team explored the core concepts at the heart of the project, including mathematical theory, computational design, digital fabrication, logistics, and interdisciplinary integration.

It has been eight months since the kick-off meeting in Oslo last October, and much progress has been made since then. One of the key success factors for any innovation is understanding its future users. In early-stage research projects like those funded under the EIC Pathfinder Programme, this can be especially challenging.

To address this, STACK is in the process of establishing an Industrial Advisory Board to support expert beta testing and ensure relevance beyond academia. During the London meeting, the team held a dedicated workshop to define objectives for the advisory board, determine how to engage with its members, and identify the types of expertise needed. The goal is to have the board in place by October this year.

In addition to the deep technical discussions and stakeholder engagement, the London meeting also provided valuable opportunities to connect with other projects in the EIC Pathfinder Portfolio. Exploring potential synergies and areas for cross-project collaboration is a key element of the Pathfinder approach. These interactions help strengthen the overall innovation ecosystem by encouraging the exchange of ideas, identifying shared challenges, and laying the groundwork for future joint activities.
